M.Sc. Peter Hense has studied the Bachelor of Science degree program “Forestry Science and Resource management“ and the Master of Science degree program “Renewable Resources” at the Technical University of Munich. In September 2013, Mr. Hense finished his Master Thesis at Fraunhofer UMSICHT and started a PhD program at the University of Bologna and Fraunhofer UMSICHT a bit later. In his PhD study, he develops and optimizes a thermo-chemical process for the treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) for recovering metals and energy.
Beside the topic of WEEE, Mr. Hense focusses on the development of recycling technologies and Life Cycle Assessment at Fraunhofer UMSICHT. Since June 2015, he is a coordinator of a project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In the project Fraunhofer UMSICHT is working together with eight partners from science and industry in order to recycle critical metals from WEEE in a decentralized concept.
